These terms cover your use of Drifft, the Mac app and the iPhone app, and this website. By using Drifft you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use it.
What changed on 26 September 2026. Drifft is now sold. The payment and refund sections below are new, and set out the price, the trial, renewal, cancellation, what happens when a payment fails, and refunds.
What Drifft is
Drifft helps you commit to a result, protects a working session by blocking distractions you have chosen, and records what actually moved. It is a tool for holding yourself to your own commitments. It is not medical, psychological, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for any of those.
Your account
You need an account so your commitments survive and so a single session can span your Mac and your phone. Keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
You must be 16 or older to use Drifft, and 18 or older in India. Drifft is built for adults doing their own work, and it watches how a working day goes, which is not something we will do for a child. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under that age we will delete it and everything stored under it.
Blocking, and its limits
Drifft blocks distractions with a full-screen block on macOS and Apple's Screen Time system on iPhone. Two things follow from that, and both are deliberate. First, there is always a way out. On the drift card it is one instant tap. On the full-screen block you hold a button for a few seconds first, and it then opens that one site for ten minutes. Drifft is friction, not a lockout, and it will never trap you out of your own device. Second, blocking depends on Apple's systems and on permissions you grant, so we cannot guarantee it will catch every case. Do not rely on Drifft where a failure to block would be harmful.
Your content
Your commitments, notes and proof are yours. You keep all rights to them. You grant us only the permission needed to store them, sync them between your devices, and show them back to you. If you switch on the AI coach, relevant parts are sent through our own server to Anthropic, which runs the model that writes the reply. What that covers, and what it does not, is set out on the privacy page. You can delete everything at any time from Settings.
Naming a witness
If you name a witness and send them a link, you are choosing to share your first name, the commitment you named, one word for how it is going, the clock, the outcome when you finish, and anything you choose to send them at the end. Only send that link to someone you actually want to see it. You can turn a link off at any time, which stops it working immediately.
Fair use
Please do not try to break, overload, reverse engineer or resell the service, use it to monitor another person without their knowledge, or use it in a way that breaks the law. The accountability features are designed for your own commitments, not for supervising somebody else.
Payment
Drifft is a paid subscription, bought on the web. The payment is handled by Dodo Payments as the merchant of record, which means Dodo Payments processes the payment and deals with any sales tax or VAT. Your card goes to them directly, and we never see or store it.
New accounts get a seven day trial of everything, with no card required. It is counted on our server from the day the account is created, so reinstalling does not restart it. If you choose a plan during the trial, billing starts when you pay, your first year runs from that payment, and the days of trial you had left are not added on.
When the trial ends without a plan, nothing you have recorded is deleted: your commitments, history and insights stay. Once your account has been signed in on a Mac, starting a new session needs a plan. Without a plan you can still shape up to three commitments a day, counted by the calendar day in UTC. If you have never signed in on a Mac, the iPhone app keeps starting sessions without a plan.
There is one plan, paid monthly or yearly. While early access lasts it costs $9.99 a month or $99 a year. Early access is for the first 100 paid subscriptions, monthly and yearly together, and it holds for each of those subscribers' first year: the first twelve monthly payments, or the first yearly payment. After that first year, and for every subscription that starts once the first 100 are taken, the price is $14.99 a month or $149 a year. Prices are in US dollars and do not include sales tax or VAT, which is added at checkout where it applies. The checkout page shows the price, the renewal period and the total before you confirm, and that is the price that applies to you.
A plan renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time in the billing portal, which opens from Settings, then Account, then Manage under Plan in the Mac app, or by writing to hello@drifftapp.com. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep everything until the end of the period you have already paid for.
If a renewal payment fails, sessions keep starting for 24 hours from the first failure, so there is time to update your card in the billing portal. After that, starting a session needs the payment to go through. Dodo Payments may try the card again over the following days, and if a later attempt succeeds your plan carries on as before. A session that is already running is never stopped because of a payment.
The iPhone app does not bill through the App Store, has no in-app purchase of any kind, and sells nothing. A plan is bought on the web and covers both apps. If any of this changes, this page changes with it before it can affect you.
Refunds
If you pay for a plan and change your mind, tell us within 14 days of that first payment and we refund it in full. No reason needed. Monthly renewals are not refunded, but you can cancel at any time and keep everything until the end of the month you paid for. An annual renewal is refunded in full if you ask within 14 days of the charge. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, within five business days, and you can ask by writing to hello@drifftapp.com.
No warranty, and what we owe you
Drifft is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error free. To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for work you did not do. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
Ending it
You can stop using Drifft and delete your data whenever you like. We may suspend an account that is being used to break these terms or to harm others.
If you have a plan, deleting your account does not cancel it. Cancel it first in the billing portal, or write to hello@drifftapp.com and we will cancel it for you.
Which law applies
Drifft is run from India, and these terms are governed by Indian law. If something cannot be settled between us, the courts of India have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, this does not take away the protection of the law where you live, or your right to bring a claim there.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will make it visible in the app rather than quietly editing this page. Continuing to use Drifft after a change means you accept it.
